Isaiah Moore Scouting Report
Games Watched: Texas Tech (2022), Clemson (2022), Boston College (2022), Louisville (2022) Best Game: Boston College (2022) Worst Game: Texas Tech (2022)
Range: Moves well laterally, which helps him cover ground. Didn’t have many opportunities to showcase his true range, but from what I saw he can easily cover half of the field.
Processing Speed: Can commit to a gap too quickly and allow the ball carrier opportunities to change his course of direction.
Coverage Ability: Doesn’t carry routes to their pass off points the best while in zone, leaving some open windows for the QB. Has shown he can be relied on in man coverage vs TEs and RBs.
Motor/Effort: Will sometimes pull up from plays if he believes other defenders have the tackle, before they make contact with the ball carrier.
Tackling: Has shown some nice form tackles on film. Lowering his body and striking up to initiate contact. Has also shown moments where he slings his body around and relies mostly on his arms, which makes the tackle easy to run through.
Block Shedding: Has shown an ability to avoid being locked in contact with offensive linemen. He will charge in and what looks like, bounce right off them and be ready to make the stop. Can be passive about taking on blocks in space, especially against offensive linemen.
Blitzing/Pass Rush: Doesn’t possess any advanced pass rush moves. Wins mostly off of timing up his blitzes. Has no semblance of a reliable pass rush at the present moment.
Run Defense: Comes down and fills run lanes well, has shown he can cross face of the offensive linemen at the last second to confuse them on which gap he is filling. Willing to eat up blocks to clear up holes for other defenders to spill into.
Toughness/Power @ POA: Doesn’t flash a lot of power at the point of attack. Leaves quite a bit to be desired here.
Versatility: Has experience playing MIKE LB. At minimum can step in and be a sub-package LB with his coverage ability. If you just need someone to take up blockers and allow others to flow to the ball, he can be an every down LB. He needs work on block deconstruction and physicality if he is to be a every down LB for every scheme. Has special teams experience.
